Bali Photographic Trip

Earlier this year Lyn Gail from Northern Exposure Camera club and Spice Photography asked if I would be interested in taking a photographic trip to Bali with her. She had a couple of projects on the go and wanted some company. I jumped at the chance to spend some time with a photographer who's work I love. Another photographer Norma Shwind who I have also had a lot of time for and who's work I admire, had been asking for sometime when I would be going back to Bali for my next trip. So in the end the three of us made our way to Bali together for a wonderfull adventure. The plan was to spend our time exploring area's of Bali less traveled by tourists. To see Bali the way it really is!

Our first port of call was Ubud. On my last trip to Bali in December I had stayed at a home stay called 'The Three Dewis'. The Accomodation was only $25 a night and included breakfast. The advantage of this type of accomodation apart from the price is the fact you get right up close to the locals. The family were wonderfull and I would recomend home stays to anyone. Just turn up and find the right place for you. Most are clusstered together so you don't have far to walk if one dose'nt suit your needs. They generally have a very basic room with a bed and a bathrom. Just don't expect the Ritz.

On our first morning in Bali I took the girls to the ubud markets. Early mornings the market is filled with fresh produce and is a photographers paradise. So many interesting characters, colours and textures. We all came out of there feeling very pleased with the images we captured.

Later in the day we asked a driver to take us to some rice fields so we could get pictures of the locals working. If you haven't been to bali before, getting a driver is as easy as walking out your front door. Just find one that speaks really good english and negotiate a good price. We found some wonderful places on our journey and again it was a very successful excursion.

To finish off our very long day we all treated ourselves to a much needed massage at the local spa.
